Afshin Shams has been sentenced to one year imprisonment.

On July 04, 2008, Afshin Shams was arrested in Aligoodarz city. Two days later, the security guards raided his father's house in Isfahan, searching the entire house. They took all his drafts and scripts related to labour movement issues.  Afshin is a labour activist, a member of ''Coordinating Committee to Help Form Workers’ organizations'', a member of ''Committee in Dense of Mahmoud Salehi'' and  also a member of ''Caricaturist Society''.

on November 1, 2008. Afshan Shams received his verdict from the court according which he has been sentenced to one year imprisonment. The verdict was given without the presence of Afshin's lawyer.

We call all worker activists and all progressive groups and organizations to intervene immediately. Afshin has to be released unconditionally. He is a prisoner of conscience and his arrest is aiming to suppress the whole worker's movement.
