Outrageous whipping sentence and prison terms for worker activists

          Sousan Razani and Shiva Kheirabadi each were sentenced to 4 months imprisonment and 15 lashes; Abdullah Khani was sentenced to 91 days prison and 40 lashes and Seyed Ghaleb Hosseini was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment and 50 lashes. The verdict was issued by the Criminal Court of Sanandaj - branch 101. The above labour activists are sentenced because of their participation in 2008 May Day celebration in Sanandaj. These activists will appeal the verdict. 

In addition, Khaled Hosseini, a worker activist was sentenced to 91 days in jail and 30 lashes. He was accused of 'disturbing public order and agitation' before Sanandaj Central jail in favor of Mahmoud Salehi's freedom last March.  The sentence is suspended for two years.
